What documents do I need to open an account?

IMPORTANT! The specific documents we require will depend on multiple factors. The list below is intended as a general guide only. 

Proof of Identity/ID 

When submitting identity documentation, please consider the following: 

  • We can only accept copies of government-issued ID that contains a photograph (e.g. Passport, National Identity Card, Driver’s License). 
  • The image must be in colour, and all text must be clear and readable. 
  • We must be able to see your full name (not abbreviation), nationality, date of birth, and the photo 
  • The document must be current and valid (not expired) 
  • All four corners of the document must be visible in the image 
  • If applicable, please provide copies of both the front AND back of the document 

Additional documents that may be requested 

We take security and fraud prevention extremely seriously, so we may ask you to provide additional documents to verify your identity and help protect your account. Below are examples of the documents we may request. 

Proof of Residence / Proof of Address (POA) 

Proof of Residence documents must show your name and current residential address and must have been issued within the last three months. If you cannot provide a matching proof of address on your application, we will not be able to open an account. 

Accepted Proof of Residence documents include: 

  • Bank statement 
  • A utility bill (gas, water, electricity) 
  • Tax document 
  • A confirmation from a solicitor, or any other government-issued document 

Please note: The document must be a copy of the original file; screenshots, mobile/telephone bills and credit card statements cannot be accepted. When submitting an image, all four corners of the original document must be visible. 

Selfie 

We may request a 'Selfie’ showing you holding an original document. If we need you to provide a selfie with the document to confirm its authenticity, please note the following: 

  • Ensure your fingers are not covering any text. 
  • ID details must be clear and readable. 
  • The selfie must not be modified by any photo editing software. 
  • Do not wear glasses, headphones, wireless hands-free devices, a hat, head covering, or anything that obscures your face. If you wear a hat or head covering for religious or medical purposes, please ensure that your hat or head covering does not cast shadows on your face. 

All verification documents can be uploaded directly during the online account application process. However, if you are having problems please try the following resolutions: 

  • Use a different web browser, like Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari. 
  • Clear your web browser's cache, cookies, and history, then try again 
  • Access the page via an incognito/hidden page. 
  • Use a different device, such as a laptop/mobile.
