How do I manage permissions, disconnect, reconnect or fix Axi MCP connection?

Guide on configuring approval settings, adjusting tool permissions in Claude, disconnecting the integration from Axi or Claude, and troubleshooting connection expired or incorrect URL errors
Updated 4 days ago

By default, Claude asks for your approval before performing any action. You can adjust these permissions at any time in Claude's settings, and you can disconnect the integration from either Axi or Claude.

How approval works

Every time Claude attempts to run a tool, a prompt appears with three choices:

  • Allow once — approves this single action/request only.

  • Always allow — approves this specific action going forward; Claude will not ask again for that one action.

  • Deny — blocks the action entirely.

Changing tool permissions

If you want to modify your choices later:

  1. Go to Claude > Customize > Connectors > Axi > Tool permissions.

  2. Read-only tools (checking balances, quotes, history) and trading tools are listed separately so you can customize rules independently. Changes take effect immediately without requiring a reconnection.

How to disconnect Axi connector

Option 1: Disconnect via Axi Client Portal or Axi mobile app

  • Go to MCP Management and select Disconnect.

Option 2: Disconnect or remove via Claude

  • To Disconnect (Temporary): Go to Customize > Connectors > Axi > Disconnect.

  • To Remove Completely: Click the three dots [...] next to Disconnect and select Remove.

Note: A confirmation prompt will ask if you want to proceed before continuing.

What happens when your account is disconnected or removed

  • Previous Chats: You can still access and continue existing chats that reference Axi content.

  • New Tasks: Claude will no longer be able to fetch new Axi content or perform new tasks.

  • Synced Files: Any project files previously synced from Axi will stop loading.

Reconnecting

You can reconnect Axi at any time.

  • If you disconnected: Go to Customize > Connectors > Axi and select Connect.

  • If you removed the connector: Add Axi again from Customize > Connectors.

In both cases, you'll need to approve the connection again and log in to your Axi account first if you aren't already.

Troubleshooting common connection issues

  • "Connection expired" error: Your session has lapsed. Simply click Reconnect in Claude to re-authenticate.

  • Wrong server URL pasted: Claude does not currently support editing a connector URL in place. Remove the connector entirely in Claude, then add it again with the correct URL copied from your Axi portal.

  • Free plan connector limit: Claude Free tier permits only one custom connector at a time. If you use another custom connector, you must remove it to use Axi, or upgrade your Claude plan.
